Beef Tips & Gravy

Here's a beef tips and gravy recipe using simple ingredients that are packed full of flavor. The recipe using flour to thicken the gravy so that it doesn't require a slurry. It's flavors are bold and zesty with just a but of heat.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 pounds cubed beef stew meat
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup flour

Instructions

  • Bring meat to room temperature. In a large bowl, add meat and seasonings: salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne. Mix well.
  • Sprinkle flour on top of beef and seasonings then mix. I like to do this with my hands. Set aside.
  • Add oil to skillet or Dutch oven.
  • Over medium heat, sear meat for 5-7 minutes or until brown. You may need to work in batches.
  • Pour broth into pot and scrape up any bits from the bottom of the pan.
  • Add in soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce, stir again while still scraping the bottom.
  • Bring to a low boil, then add lid.
  • Allow to cook over medium to low heat stirring periodically to prevent the gravy from sticking.
  • Cook for 1-1/2 hours or until tender
