Grits and Grillades
_For the Grillades:_
- - 2 lbs beef round thinly sliced
- - Salt and pepper to taste
- - ½ cup all-purpose flour for dredging
- - 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
- - 1 large onion chopped
- - 1 green bell pepper chopped
- - 2 cloves garlic minced
- - 2 cups beef broth
- - 1 can 14.5 oz diced tomatoes
- - 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- - 2 bay leaves
_For the Grits:_
- - 1 cup stone-ground grits
- - 4 cups water or milk
- - 2 tablespoons butter
- - ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- - Salt to taste
